Alternate Data Feeds

One of the nice things about NinjaTrader is that they offer a free charting platform with free data.

However, that free real-time data feed expires every 3 to 4 weeks.  When that happens, you can just email us and we can get you a new data feed.  For most people, that's fine.

Below are some additional options...

1) If you are trading in real-time simulation (as opposed to real money):
Your best bet is to continue using the real-time free demo data feed, as explained on the "connect to a data feed" page.

2) If you are already trading through a broker or using another charting platform:
In other words, let's say you're using another charting platform (TradeStation, Sierra, etc) and/or you're trading through another broker (that is not the NinjaTrader Brokerage).

If that's the case, you can continue doing so.  You'll simply add the NinjaTrader platform to your computer (which is free) and you'll connect it to the free real-time data feed.

From there, not much changes.  You can continue using your other charting platform if you still want to.  You can continue trading through your current broker.  You've simply added some additional indicators to help you make trading decisions.  They just happen to be on NinjaTrader charts, which are free to use.

3) If you want to use NinjaTrader as your brokerage (data feed included):
This is probably the simplest permanent solution.  NinjaTrader Brokerage is a good broker.  Their commissions are low and they provide good service.  As part of their service, the data feed is included.

4) If you want to use NinjaTrader as a secondary broker:
This is an option some people choose.  They open an account with NinjaTrader brokerage and fund it with the minimum (typically $1000).  From there, they may or may not even use that brokerage account.  They're just gaining access to the free data feed that's included with an account.

5) If you want to pay for a data feed:
Another good option is to pay for a data feed. Kinetick is typically the best option. This is especially true if you want to trade instruments other than futures (such as stocks, ETFs, etc.)

6) Connect to another data feed that NinjaTrader supports:
In some cases, you might already have access to a data feed that NinjaTrader will allow you to connect with. Here is more info about that. One word of caution...sometimes the data feeds aren't good enough (such as IB) or they can be a little bit clunky to integrate. But, it certainly can be done.
